Inside the Famed Ammortal Chamber: A Total Reset That Leaves You Clear, Calm, and Happy

The Ammortal Chamber is part therapy bed, part space capsule. If you imagine what a futuristic device for human optimization would be, this is spot on—and it’s finding its way into high-end spas, hotels, and wellness clinics across the country, like the Amrit Ocean Resort spa in Florida and Santa Monica Proper Hotel spa. I tried it, not at luxury destination though, but inside a customized Airstream trailer parked in midtown Manhattan. The trailer is essentially wellness on wheels, crisscrossing state-to-state, offering the chance to experience the machine’s body and brain benefits.

I was scheduled for a 25-minute session, which started with a quick rundown: Undress to whatever level of nakedness you’re comfortable with, lie on the contoured bed (it’s designed to support nearly every body type), and breathe in hydrogen gas through a sterile cannula. A voice-guided meditation, which you select via touchscreen, helps quiet your nervous system. This is key: it’s important to be in a calm state to really receive all that’s being done to you and your cells. And it’s a lot.

Once the curved lid of the Chamber lowered into place (it is not like a coffin or MRI machine – it’s much more open. I felt zero claustrophobia), the lights turned red, a low hum began to pulse through the base of the bed, and the voice prompted breathwork. I’m not a regular meditator, but I stopped wondering what was going on outside the trailer and just followed the instructions. The music was harmonious, and vibrations, coming from…somewhere,  put me into that nice half-sleep woozy state.

Meanwhile, here’s what was happening behind the scenes: The machine delivers five modalities at once: red light and PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) to reduce inflammation and boost circulation; molecular hydrogen inhalation to target oxidative stress; sound and vibration therapy to coax the nervous system into parasympathetic mode, where you’re deeply relaxed. There’s a case to be made that any one of these therapies alone could improve sleep, energy, and mood. The idea here is to stack them for a more complete reset. And to be efficient, so you don’t spend hours on your wellness protocol.

As co-founder Brian Le Gette explained to me, “The individual technologies of the Chamber have been shown to create significant improvement, physiologically, emotionally, and psychologically—including reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress, and the calming of the nervous system and heart-brain coherence.”

They have stats to back it up:

  • Full body relaxation: 95% of users experienced a deep state of peace and calm
  • Increased clarity: 85% of users experienced a quieting of the mind with increased focus
  • Energetic restoration: 90% of users experience the feeling of a “caffeinated calm”, an energizing reset

By the time the canopy lifted, I was so into the dreamy, chill state, I could’ve happily laid there another half hour. But, alas. When I emerged, I did actually feel clear, not groggy. Everything just seemed A-ok. And that’s saying a lot when navigating through NYC midtown mayhem. It’s a real treat to feel so good just by doing absolutely nothing.  I could easily get addicted.
